BACKGROUND INFORMATION
His first years in school they had some classes under the tree and wrote on the ground, there were no enough classrooms, writing pads, pens, text books and no electricity. The nearest clinic was a day travel miles away because there were no adquate public transport, people trekked. Water was the most scarce and important thing that people spend a whole day walking distances to find some drinking and cooking water, the area is semi arid, all rivers, streams and ponds are seasonal and invested with protozoa, viruses or bacteria that cause water born diseases like bilharzia.
Although he had it tough people lived as one community, they knew each other, shared almost everything and he was very much involved in community development activities and volunteering whether in school, the local church and the community. Every one had a Social entrepreneurial perspective of living, helped each other to progress as they progressed too. Businessmen and those who had more supported or bailed out communities during times of difficulties like drought and famine and other disasters.
After high school he was a lucky kid to qualify and get selected to attend college education in India through a Kenyan-India governments collaboration program that was assisting Kenyan students to apply and qualify for a self financed education opportunities in India. Although it was a break through to the out side world, both his parents passed away a couple months later after he had joined university. He was left with 3 sibling brothers to fight their way through tough life. Despite the difficulties he graduated with a Bachelors of Commerce degree in 1998 and immediately enrolled for a Masters degree program.
Visiting India on the other side exposed him to a world of different emerging technologies and business cultures that actually changed his way of thinking about the world forever, the cable TV, STD phone services and computer technologies or the ICT industry was experiencing major changes.
It was after returning back to Kenya in the late 1990's when he started working on a project that draws experiences from his two worlds, the world of business and technology in India and that of his village community social services. He realized the power of social enterprises towards changing the world and immediately focused on developing a social entrepreneurship career. To earn experience, exposure and networks in the world of social entrepreneurship he joined Voluntary Service Overseas UK (VSO) for a 2 year contract as a Project Manager to oversee the rural community development projects program for her partner organization Oke -Ogun Community Development Network (OCDN) in Nigeria. After VSO in June 2004, he joined Charity for African Welfare and Development UK (CawdNet) now Dadamac UK http://www.dadamac.net/ as the National Coordinator of projects and activities within member organization in Nigeria for a short contract.
Later, after CAWD UK in 2005, he joined Fantsuam Foundation(FF) a VSO partner in Nigeria for 2 year contract as their Project Manager, see http://www.fantsuam.org/
In August 2006, David relocated back to Kenya and started a program Community Learning, Information and Communication (CLIC) Programme from experiences, exposure, collaborations and networks earned over the years. This was a personal initiative of giving back to his village and the neighboring communities.
CLIC first activity was a baseline survey based on Schools information needs, knowledge and use of ICT's for education and development in Kangundo District a rural community in Kenya, CLIC earned the first support from VSO Global Education and advocacy (GlobEd) programme and Charity for African Welfare and Development UK - http://www.dadamac.net/foundation both former David's employers. VSO GlobEd supports creative and innovative projects and Dadamac Integrates Education and Development in Africa and Online by helping people of different cultures to collaborate.
Later, the successful baseline study activity and findings enabled CLIC to sought for another support from Commonwealth of Learning (COL) Canada (see http://www.col.org/) for COL - PROTEIN grant to replicate a project Teachers Talking (TT) in Kangundo District, 26 out of all 37 secondary schools participated. David had managed Teachers Talking project in Nigeria
Teachers Talking (TT) is an ICT Skills training for Teachers, students and Communities in rural Africa, the ultimate objective is to enable high-flying teachers to enter into informed debate and to influence policy regarding ICT in education and development in rural Africa - hence the name "Teachers Talking".
It is the CLIC programme that developed to CALD. CALD idea structures started in Kenya immediately after the Teachers Talking program in 2008 before David moved to the US in March 2009. Today CALD has an International presence with CALD International in the US, CALD Kenya and CALD Nigeria.

David believes Knowledge is and remains the greatest treasure for any conscious individual and nation with an ambitious vision; it is the ultimate legacy of man's existence on the planet Earth.
